Job Description Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is a premier 137-bed, long-term acute and hospital located in Wallingford, CT. We provide a continuum of care including inpatient and outpatient physical rehabilitation and complex medical care. Our programs include spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, ventilator weaning, respiratory management, transitional living, neurological rehabilitation, and hand therapy, amongst others.

We are currently seeking applications for a full-time Director of Psychology with expertise in adolescent, adult and/or geriatric assessment to lead our Department of Psychology, a division of our Center for Brain Health, which offers inpatient, and outpatient neuropsychological assessments and psychotherapy. It is a vibrant department made up of five (5) staff neuropsychologists, four (4) per diem neuropsychologists, one (1) health psychologist, and five (5) licensed social workers.

Responsibilities include management and supervision of the Psychology staff; clinical oversight of the department; provision of outpatient and inpatient neuropsychological consultations for a range of neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders, from acute concussion to post-concussive syndrome to the spectrum of neurodegenerative diseases; provides psychotherapy coverage to inpatient units as needed as well as crisis intervention; conducting feedback sessions with patients, their families and staff as appropriate; providing in-service education and training to staff; providing community education; supervision of practicum students; guiding and providing consultation to multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate will have managerial experience as well as a knowledge and interest in neuropsychological assessment of disorders such as stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and dementia but also competencies within all areas of neuropsychological assessment relevant to a medical setting.

Applicants are to be eligible for licensure in the State of Connecticut. Requirements include having obtained a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology and completion of a 2-year fellowship in neuropsychology with five years of clinical experience. We are also seeking applicants who are preferably board-certified or board-eligible in clinical neuropsychology through either the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) or the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABN).
