Job Description The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Department of Neurological Sciences (DONS) is expanding neuropsychological services. We are recruiting for an early to mid-career board certified or board eligible clinical neuropsychologist to join our dynamic and collaborative neuropsychology division. The DONS also has 22 full time faculty physicians, 7 advanced practice providers and 20 neurology residents and fellows. Under the leadership of behavioral neurologist Dr. Matthew Rizzo, the position includes patient care, teaching and research responsibilities.

Patient Care: The DONS supports the following specific programs: Behavioral Neurology, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurocritical Care, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuromuscular Diseases, Vascular Neurology/Stroke, Magnetoencephalography.
Neuropsychologists are integrated into the epilepsy, deep brain stimulation and solid organ transplant surgery teams. The DONS operates a 6-bed epilepsy video monitoring unit and a MEG neuroimaging clinical and research program. Neuropsychologist responsibilities also include referrals from multiple other specialty services at our academic medical facility including oncology, family medicine, geriatric medicine, and Psychiatry.
Teaching: The neuropsychology program is a member of the APPCN with two postdoctoral fellowship positions. Neuropsychologists are also involved in neurology residency training program didactics.

Research: DONS Faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active role in clinical and translational research. The UNMC / Nebraska Medicine / University of Nebraska network of campuses house a wide array of high end equipment including access to 3.0 Tesla Siemens and Philips MRI scanners, fully operational MEG Center, and opportunities to engage in genetic and metabolomics research. Hospital and system based seed grants are frequently available to assist with the generation of pilot data. The university has well organized systems to accept and disburse extramural funding once it is obtained. At this time the neuropsychology division is actively involved in research addressing questions related to use of deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's patients, assessing minimal hepatic encephalopathy in pre-transplant liver patients, assessing effects of various cancer treatments on cognition, rsfMRI in concussed athletes and basic vision science related to use of a portable critical flicker fusion (CFF) device. Additionally, new in-roads are being made to conduct research with the DONS high-end driving simulators.
