There is an immediate opening for a staff neuropsychologist within Riverside Health System in Newport News, Virginia. Our staff currently includes one neuropsychologist and a rehabilitation psychologist.
Primary responsibilities will be conducting outpatient neuropsychological assessments, many of which will be directly referred from our inpatient facilities and from physicians in our larger health system. Patient populations include adults and older adults with dementia, movement disorders, stroke, brain injury, epilepsy as well as neuropsychiatric presentations and a broad range of complex medical disorders. The neuropsychologist is responsible for test administration (no psychometrists are currently on staff) and for rapid report turnaround time. Outpatient services could also include assessment services for patients preparing to undergo deep brain stimulator surgery, bariatric surgery and pain/spinal cord implants. Additionally, the neuropsychologist will have opportunities for research and supervision of doctoral psychology students.
Responsibilities will also include provision of inpatient services on an as needed basis for the 50-bed inpatient sub-acute rehabilitation unit which would include assessment and intervention of individuals with spinal cord injury, amputees, and patients with brain injuries/stroke.
Requirements: The Clinical Psychologist must have a doctorate in clinical/counseling psychology, completed an APA accredited clinical psychology internship, completed a two year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology or rehabilitation psychology, and be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Virginia.
