Job Description About NCI
The NeuroCognitive Institute specializes in diagnosing and treating cognitive, neuropsychiatric and neurobehavioral disorders in pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. The majority of our patients present with neurodevelopmental based disorders, acquired and traumatic brain injury, as well as, neurodegenerative diseases. We are one of the leading cognitive neuroscience centers in NJ. NCI clinics are located in Monmouth, Ocean, Morris, Somerset, and Essex County NJ. We also have a very active clinical research department conducting early-late drug development, functional brain mapping and neuromodulation research. Our clinics are affiliated with the RWJBarnabas, St. Clare's, St. Luke's and the Atlantic Healthcare systems. We also have a partnership with University Radiology and use their MRI scanners throughout NJ for our fMRI and DTI imaging.

About the position
We have an opening for a full-time director position providing both clinical and clinical research services to our pediatric and adolescent patient population. This position blends clinical research with clinical responsibilities.

Clinical research time is protected, the amount of dedicated research time varies depending on funding. Clinical research funding is derived from both Investigator Initiated Studies as well as Sponsored grants. This position will require the candidate to function as a Principal Investigator in their areas of research expertise and, in some studies, as a sub-investigator assisting the research team with ongoing, as well as, upcoming clinical trials at NCI.

Clinical diagnostic related duties: These vary to some degree based on professional specialty, but generally includes: conducting neurological, neurobehavioral and neurodevelopmental exams, as well as, interpreting neuropsychological test results, raw EEGs, structural brain imaging, as well as, functional brain mapping test results. Training in brain mapping procedures is provided by NCI if necessary. Other neurodiagnostic procedures can be integrated based on the candidate's expertise.

Treatment services: NCI patients present with a variety of cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders. Some of the more common etiologies of these disorder include neurodevelopmental, acquired and traumatic brain injuries, as well as, neurodegenerative diseases. Treatment related duties are also dependent on the candidate's training and specialty but generally includes: evaluation and patient management, individual psychotherapy including cognitive and behavioral therapy with patients and their families, as well as, behavioral health interventions, psychopharmacological consultations and treatment, neuromodulation and cognitive rehabilitation. The position also requires supervision of regional interdisciplinary clinical staff which consists of: cognitive rehab, speech and language and learning disability therapists, behaviorists, psychotherapists, research associates, technicians, fellows, residents and students.

Qualifications
The qualified candidate must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D., with training in the scientist-practitioner model with advanced clinical training in pediatric neuropsychology, cognitive/behavioral neurology with expertise in treating children and/or neurodevelopmental medicine. At least 3 years post-doctoral experience in the candidate's field is preferred. Experience as a supervisor is also required.
The candidate must be licensed or licensed eligible in NJ within the 4-5 months from hire dates and be eligible for a Medicaid provider number.

Director level positions at NCI qualify for different financial packages. We offer a competitive base salary model with attractive bonus incentives. We also have an associate model reimbursement package which includes a department profit sharing plan once vested. An institute level profit sharing plan is also available and is another financial reimbursement packaged offered at NCI. The northern and NJ shore regions are highly desirable geographical location offering easy access to beautiful beaches, NYC, Atlantic City and Philadelphia. This position can be accompanied by a faculty position at Rutgers New Jersey Medical school; formerly RWJMS, Department of Neurology or Psychiatry. Depending on regional location; clinical appointments will include one or more of the following medical center healthcare systems: Atlantic Health; Barnabas Health; St. Clare's, and St. Luke's. Inpatient consultation opportunities are also available for those candidates who would like to integrate inpatient coverage with their outpatient responsibilities.
