The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), Indianapolis, Indiana, seeks a full-time Rehabilitation/Clinical Neuropsychologist to provide clinical assessment and intervention services to individuals and families affected by acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions. The position will serve primarily in the capacity of inpatient brain injury care, outpatient diagnostic evaluations, and outpatient individual and group therapy intervention. The ideal candidate would have experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting with patients who have sustained traumatic injury or other medical conditions requiring rehabilitation including spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and orthopedic injury. Applicants should have training and experience in neuropsychological assessment and therapeutic interventions relevant to the rehabilitation setting and patient population. It would be expected that applicants would have background and experience working with families as well as group interventions.
The Rehabilitation Neuropsychology Department and the Resource Facilitation Department currently has seven doctoral level staff, one post-doctoral fellow, and seven neuropsychology technicians in addition to our administrative and practice management infrastructure. We have grown significantly over the last few years secondary to the results of our clinical research and program development initiatives. First, we developed what is now a statewide Resource Facilitation program to assist people with brain injury return to work or school based on two RCT's and one prospective clinical cohort trial. We have also rolled out the Brain Injury Coping Skills Group and the Couples Care group based on our research. The growth and success of this research-driven innovation cycle led us to last year create the Research, Training, and Outcomes Center (RTOC), which is now headed by a PhD in Bioinformatics and Statistics. The RTOC also provides training in brain injury and brain injury rehabilitation for a variety of professional organizations and health care providers throughout Indiana. As a consequence, the Rehabilitation Neuropsychology Department, the Resource Facilitation Department, and the RTOC are now composed of a staff of 38, providing for a certain diversification of professional activities for the successful candidate. We also have a variety of new funded studies, all related to brain injury and brain injury rehabilitation, and applications pending.
Competitive applicants will possess a PhD/PsyD from an APA-accredited doctoral program and will have internship (APA-accredited) and two years of supervised post-doctoral training/experience in Neuropsychology and/or Rehabilitation Psychology to have competencies in both fields. Licensure/eligibility for licensure in Indiana is required. The position affords a competitive salary commensurate with experience and benefits.
