Catherine Price, Ph.D.

Dr. Catherine Price is Professor and Board-Certified Neuropsychologist in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, and the Department of Anesthesiology, at the University of Florida. She is an independent NIH investigator studying neuroimaging and neuropsychology predictors of cognitive decline for older adults with and without neurodegenerative disorders electing surgeries with anesthesia. Her research expertise involves dementia, movement disorders, perioperative cognitive disorders, and neuroimaging methods. She currently holds an NIH leadership grant to develop the Perioperative Cognitive Anesthesia Network (PeCAN) for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) at the University of Florida. This program provides a) perioperative clinical care to patients with ADRD electing surgery, b) interdisciplinary training to residents and fellows in anesthesiology, neurology, and neuropsychology, and 3) perioperative research opportunities for those interested in perioperative cognitive disorders. She is an elected Fellow within the American Psychological Association, the 2021 International Neuropsychological Society Arthur Benton Mid-Career Awardee for her contribution to the field of neuropsychology in the area of perioperative cognitive medicine. She is also the prior Chair of the 2022-2024 Perioperative Cognitive and Delirium Professional Interest Group of the Alzheimer's Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART). Her career goal is to improve evidence-based perioperative care for older adults with ADRD and neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease who need surgery with anesthesia. She is an advocate of preventative medicine and establishing routine preoperative cognitive screening and delirium assessments within hospital settings.
