Position Neuropsychologist

Job Description Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network has an immediate need for a full-time Neuropsychologist in Allentown, PA.

JOB SUMMARY
Provides services to patients/clients who have mental impairments and adjustment difficulties (cognitive, behavioral, emotional) related to functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes. Acts to enhance mental/emotional well being; provides prevention education; promotes health, wellness and psycho social reintegration; contributes to prevent/minimize disability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DIAGNOSES AND TREATS DISORDERS
- Conducts thorough reviews of medical records and other referring documentation
- Obtains accessory information from family members, clinical staff and other relevant sources of information
- Interviews and observes client, obtaining additional information regarding cognitive, behavioral and emotional functioning
- Diagnoses psychological/neuropsychological conditions present or suspected
- Develops and implements appropriate plan of care that may include direct psychological/neuropsychological treatment interventions, additional assessment, recommendations for care by other treatment team members or other professionals
- Selects and directs or performs administration of neuropsychological and other assessment measures
- Interprets results of assessment and produces timely, thorough assessment reports with appropriate recommendations to the client and referring party
- Provides feedback on results of assessments to client and others as appropriate, as well as to referring party
- Monitors progress and reviews and adapts treatment efforts in conjunction with client and relevant significant others
- Coordinates efforts with other treating professionals and agencies
- Participates in professional collaborations and/or interdisciplinary treatment teams to maximize client progress
- Acts to assure availability of help for crisis management and resolution

DOCUMENTATION
- Accurately documents activities of evaluation, assessment and treatment
- Documentation meets clinical policy and procedure guidelines

CONTRIBUTES TO MEETING FINANCIAL OBJECTIVES
- Submits accurate diagnosis codes and charges for services rendered
- Meets clinical productivity expectations
- Assists in planning and conducting departmental operations to maximize efficiency and productivity
- Helps plan and accepts assignments based on areas of clinical competence and organizational needs

ASSURES QUALITY SERVICE FOR CLIENTS
- Provides services as needed to both inpatient and outpatient populations consistent with training and expertise
- Facilitating discharge/discontinuation of services as appropriate by analyzing achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, planning discharge/discontinuation and providing appropriate home instruction, follow-up or referral.
- Follows appropriate Good Shepherd and other relevant policies, rules, regulations, and legal requirements as well as adhering to ethical principles of the profession of Psychology

MAINTAINS PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE
- Maintains current knowledge of practice in areas of professional activity by completing professional education activities, keeping current with professional publications, and collaborating with relevant professionals
- Establishes and sustains professional contacts and networks to support expertise and contacts in the professional community

CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT
- Functions as part of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team within programmatic areas of responsibility
- Demonstrates flexibility in helping to provide necessary clinical coverage for client base and clinical programs
- Assists with development and growth of students and clinical colleagues within Psychology and across institution
- Provides education to others, contributing from own areas of professional expertise
- Promotes positive work environment

- Education
- Doctorate's Degree in clinically relevant field of Psychology with training in the area of clinical neuropsychology or rehabilitation neuropsychology required
- Work Experience
- Previous experience in a neuropsychology or rehabilitation psychology setting required
- Licenses / Certifications
- Psychology license required
