Position Postdoctoral Fellowships in Clinical Neuropsychology and Addictions!
Location San Diego, CA
Job Description The UC San Diego T32 is accepting applications for Postdoctoral Fellowships in
Clinical Neuropsychology and Addictions!
"Training in Research on Addictions in Interdisciplinary NeuroAIDS"
NIDA T32-DA031098

Our Focus:
- This NIDA T32 fellowship emphasizes research training in neurocognitive and everyday functioning outcomes (e.g., medication adherence, driving, technology-based tools for assessing and remediating neurocognitive, substance use, and functional impairment) in addictions and HIV infection. Substances of interest include, but are not limited to, methamphetamine, cannabis, alcohol and opioids.
- Research opportunities exist to examine the neurobiological mechanisms underlying neurocognition and everyday functioning (e.g., microbiome and gut-brain axis, inflammation, neuroimmunology, neuroscience) of these conditions. Trainees have access to extensive, multidisciplinary longitudinal neuroHIV and substance use data from our centers (i.e., HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center, Translational Methamphetamine Research Center, and the Center for Medicinal Canabis Research). Depending on the fellow's interests, additional research opportunities may be available in understanding addictions and neuroHIV in the context of resource-limited and underserved settings, and additional comorbidities/cofactors (e.g., mental illness, aging, vascular disease).
- Fellows will engage in an individualized, mentored clinical research training program that will include structured didactics from a highly collaborative faculty of clinical and basic scientists. T32 neuropsychology faculty are Drs. Robert Heaton (Director), Igor Grant, David Moore, Erin Morgan, Jennifer Iudicello, Mariana Cherner, Maria Marquine, Raeanne Moore, and Thomas Marcotte. Other clinical/basic science faculty include Drs. Rob Knight, Pieter Dorrestein, Scott Letendre, Ronald Ellis, Christine Fennema-Notestein, J. Adam Fields and Sara Gianella.

Resources Provided:
- 2-3 years (dependent on progress) of postdoctoral stipend support with benefits (https://postdoc.ucsd.edu/postdocs/benefits-services.html)
- Travel funds to present at a scientific conference
- Fellowship meets requirements for clinical licensure in CA.
- Fellow will have an opportunity for up to 10% clinical training under the supervision of Marc A. Norman, Ph.D., ABPP-CN.
- Fellowship is housed at the UC San Diego HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program (HNRP) that is directed by Igor Grant, MD. The HNRP multidisciplinary research team includes experts in neuropsychology, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, mHealth, neurocognitive interventions, evidence-based substance use interventions, neuroscience, neuroimaging, neuropathology, neurovirology, microbiome, infectious diseases, and implementation science.

Eligibility:
- Interest or research productivity in neuropsychology, addictions, HIV or a related field is beneficial, but not required.
