Assistant Professor in Neurology
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Description: The Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is
seeking an excellent early career neuropsychologist for an Assistant Professor position.
Neuropsychologist/”Health” psychologist: The position is structured for a candidate with experience in
both neuropsychology and relevant health psychology. The neuropsychologist will see patients in our busy outpatient general medical setting, with an emphasis on assessment of degenerative conditions. In addition to seeing patients in our general neuropsychology clinic, the neuropsychologist would be expected to take a leadership role in our developing Brain Health Clinic, conducting brief cognitive evaluations and follow-up with patients suspected of having non-neurologic, potentially modifiable factors contributing to their cognitive complaints, such as pain, sleep disorders, and mood factors, working in conjunction with one of our cognitive neurology nurse practitioners. The candidate would join a growing Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology Division that includes six neurologists, six neuropsychologists, and two nurse practitioners.
In addition to providing outpatient care through the multidisciplinary Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology
Division Memory Clinic, there is the potential for developing an independent or collaborative research
program. Vanderbilt University Medical Center has outstanding neuroscience resources to support basic, clinical, and translational research activities, including the Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical & Translational Research, the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science, the Vanderbilt Brain Institute, and the Vanderbilt Memory & Alzheimer’s Center. Involvement in training practicum students and/or postdoctoral fellows in neuropsychology is also a possibility.
Position Requirements: Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible in the State of Tennessee.
Applicants should also hold board certification in clinical neuropsychology or be eligible for board
certification in clinical neuropsychology.
Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vita and a brief 1 • 2 page statement summarizing
