NAN Urges Senate to Address Vaccine Misinformation
The National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) submitted a letter to the Senate Finance Committee in advance of its September 4 meeting, urging senators to address recent misinformation about vaccines.
As clinician-scientists with expertise in brain health and neurological conditions, NAN leadership emphasized the importance of science-based public health policy and highlighted the robust body of research disproving any link between vaccines and autism.
“Our priority is to ensure that accurate, evidence-based information guides health decisions and policy,” NAN noted in its outreach. “False claims about vaccines pose real risks to public trust and to the health of communities across the country.”
To support this message, NAN provided committee members with a fact sheet summarizing the extensive scientific evidence refuting any connection between vaccines and autism.
