Digital cognitive assessments (DCAs) are rapidly reshaping how cognitive health is monitored and managed. But while these tools hold tremendous promise for scalability, early detection, and precision monitoring, clinicians still face challenges in integrating them into routine clinical care. This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the current DCA landscape, including the state of the science, the clinical value these tools can deliver, and key barriers to broader adoption. The session will also present new recommendations from the Global CEO Initiative on Alzheimer’s Disease (CEOi) DCA Workgroup. These recommendations establish a foundational framework for clinical use—clarifying appropriate use cases, detailing essential test characteristics, and defining performance standards to guide the development, evaluation, and implementation of DCAs in clinical settings.

Dustin Hammers, PhD

Dustin Hammers is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Indiana University (IU). Dr. Hammers is the lead neuropsychologist involved in the NIA-funded Longitudinal Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease Study (LEADS), and he is currently the Principal Investigator on the NIA- and Alzheimer’s Association- funded study Lifestyle Interventions for the Treatment of Early-Onset AD Study (LITES). Among his research interests include remote cognitive assessments, including teleneuropsychology and digital cognitive assessments. Relatedly, he is currently a member of the Global CEO-Initiative on Alzheimer’s Disease Working Group for the Development of Appropriate Use Criteria for Digital Cognitive Assessments. He currently serves as Associate Editor of Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment, & Disease Monitoring, is the past Chair of the American Psychological Association’s Committee on Rural Health, and is currently a Member-At-Large for the International Neuropsychological Society – Dementia Special Interest Group.
