The Psychology Division in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital are pleased to announce the immediate availability of a clinician-educator neuropsychology faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank at our Houston Medical Center Campus. Clinical emphasis is flexible, though experience in Neurology and Epilepsy, including Epilepsy Surgery, is preferred.
The position is based in the Psychology Division of Texas Children's Hospital (TCH), which is the largest children’s hospital in the United States and the primary teaching/training center for the Baylor College of Medicine’s (BCM) Department of Pediatrics. TCH is one of only ten hospitals nationally designated by U.S. News and World Report for Honor Roll status in pediatrics, ranking in the top 10 for all ranked subspecialties. BCM and TCH are also nested in the heart of Houston, which was recently rated the 4th most ethnically diverse city in the United States (1st place when compared to other large cities). Houston is a family friendly city, with strong economy, relatively low cost of living and vibrant, international cultural and arts offerings.
The neuropsychologist in this role will work in partnership with subspecialty medical teams to serve pediatric patients treated for a range of chronic and acute medical conditions. Referring medical subspecialty partners include Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Endocrinology, and Hematology/Oncology among others. Clinical services will primarily include targeted and comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation, consultation, and limited inpatient evaluation.
BCM has an exceptionally strong commitment to its educational mission, which factors into promotion consideration. This faculty neuropsychology position will involve teaching and supervision of neuropsychology post-doctoral fellows within our APPCN-member fellowship program and of interns in our APA- accredited internship program. In addition, all BCM faculty members are expected to contribute to the College’s academic mission. Both independent and collaborative research/scholarship opportunities are available through partnership with other Division members, as well as our subspecialty partners.
