As patient populations grow increasingly diverse in terms of language, ethnicity, and cultural background, neuropsychologists are called to expand their competencies to meet the needs of multicultural communities. Regardless of their native language or cultural background, clinicians must develop a strong foundation in cultural frameworks and clinical practices that support fair assessments. This presentation will explore how cultural and contextual factors influence each stage of the neuropsychological evaluation process, from referral and interview to test selection, administration, interpretation, and case conceptualization. Practical strategies will be discussed to help clinicians mitigate cultural biases, enhance clinical decision-making, and promote more culturally responsive care.
Learning Objectives
After this webinar participants will be able to:
1. Identify key cultural variables that may influence the neuropsychological evaluation process.
2. Apply practical strategies and tools to enhance assessment with linguistically and culturally diverse patients.
3. Demonstrate more culturally informed and equitable neuropsychological evaluations.
